INTERCEDING AS AN ADVOCATE
Read: Daniel 9:3-19
Fasting as intercession. This is exactly what Daniel did for his people.
Do you have a cause or a person you want to intercede for? Perhaps you have it on your heart to pray for a particular group of people, your city or your country.

“A few years ago, we fasted for 40 days for my friend who does not know Jesus. Early in her pregnancy, she found out that she had an extremely aggressive breast cancer. Doctors advised her to abort her child so that she herself would have a better chance of survival. She decided to have the child. In this situation, I felt powerless as a friend, the only thing I could do was fast and pray. In the course of the fast, God gave me insight into things in her family for which I could ask forgiveness. In the meantime, my friend is considered cancer-free and she gave birth to a healthy boy (despite chemotherapy). When I think of this story, I am always overwhelmed by our great God.”
Prayer, Get Free & Next Step:
Perhaps at the start of the fast you've been thinking about who or what you'd like to pray for especially during this time. Take time to pray for just that today. The Bible says that we are kings and priests. Imagine yourself as a royal priest standing in the throne room of God and interceding for these issues.
Prayer Points
Thank the Lord for allowing you to participate in this year’s 21 days of prayer and fasting.
1 John 1:9 – Confess any known and unknown sins.
Praise the Lord for bringing you and your household into the year 2023.
1 Kings 18:46 – Continue to ask God for special grace and strength to sustain and keep you during this fasting season.
Dan 9:4 - “O Lord, you are a great and awesome God”. You always fulfill your covenant to Your people. I worship and adore You. (praise and worship Him)
Dan 9:5 – Father, as a nation we have sinned and done wrong in the following ways … (mention them) We have rebelled against You and scorned Your commands and regulations. We ask for forgiveness. (pray earnestly)
Job 1:5 – Jehovah, like Job, I am standing in the gap and pleading for my household regarding the following … (mention them and pray earnestly)
Job 1:5 – Lord, release Your grace upon my life to be able to provide a spiritual covering for my household. (pray seriously)
Job 1:5 – Father, like Job, may the leaders of every participants’ household and PPT households continually stand in the gap for their households.
Dan 9:17 – Lord for the glory of Your name, smile on us again. (pray earnestly)
Dan 9:18 – Merciful God, seeing the evil around us (in our cities, every level of our governments, schools, churches, homes) we ask for Your mercy. Save us Lord. (pray seriously)
Dan 9:19 – Father protect the remnant in the nations of the world in Jesus’ name.
Gen 18:23-25 – Lord You are in the right. O Lord, hear. O Lord forgive. O Lord reverse the effects of the sins of this nation, its leaders and people for our obstinacy because of the remnant. (pray earnestly)
Pray for the PPT missionaries and the persecuted church.
Pray about 4 things you would want God to do for you during this 21-day fast.
Prayer Declaration
If it had not been you, Jehovah Ebenezer, our helper on my side, where would I be? Your grace and mercy brought me through 2022 and now I have seen 2023. Father, I am thankful and appreciate all that You have done for me, my household, PPT households and the church.
Oh Lord, as we wait on you through intense prayers and fasting this month, let me, my household, and PPT experience “open heavens” creating spiritual opportunities resulting in having dominion over our lives (health, career, relationships, and finances).
I declare and decree that every spiritual valley in and around my life will be filled with an overflow of Jehovah’s blessings. I declare and decree that every spiritual mountain and hill in my way, in my family’s way, in PPT households’ way will be brought low in Jesus’ name.
I declare and decree that every spiritual crooked place in and around my life will be made straight by your power. I declare and decree that every spiritual rough way in my pathway, in my family’s pathway, PPT households’ pathway and the church’s pathway will be smooth.
I affirm that the zeal of the Lord will accomplish this. So shall it be.
