SPIRITUAL EARTHQUAKES
Earthquakes are usually caused when underground rock suddenly breaks and there is rapid motion along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. While most earthquakes are caused by the slipping of tectonic plates, minor earthquakes can also be caused by volcanic eruptions, collapse of rock formations on the earth's surface, or underground explosions. We recently witnessed how powerful they can be in Türkiye and Syria. The Bible also speaks of earthquakes taking place indicating significant spiritual events were unfolding.
When Jesus died on the cross, “… the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened;” (Matthew 27:51,52). Jesus was accomplishing an incredible spiritual victory for us by dying on the cross for our sins. This event led a centurion and the others with him to acknowledge that Jesus truly was the Son of God. Let’s pray for spiritual awakenings.
At Jesus' resurrection there was a great earthquake, “And behold there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it” (Matthew 28:2). The power of God was being exercised in the raising of Jesus Christ from the dead. Let’s pray for spiritual resurrections.
Paul and Silas had just delivered a girl from demons and found themselves in jail because of it. As they prayed and worshipped God in prison at midnight, “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were loosed.” This expression of the power of God came as a result of prayer and worship and led to the jailer and his entire family receiving Christ as their Saviour! Let’s pray for spiritual conversions.
We recently heard of the revival at Asbury University. A type of ‘spiritual earthquake’ that is resulting in a fresh awakening in the hearts of people to the presence and power of God. These ‘spiritual quakes’ of revival have spread to several other locations over recent weeks. To experience a spiritual earthquake, we must admit that we need what only God’s Holy Spirit can do. We must recognize how much we need the transforming power of God in our lives and our culture and be willing to pay a personal price to join it. Let’s pray that more ‘spiritual quaking’ will take place and spread around the world.

Matthew 27:50-54 (NKJV)
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying,
“Truly this was the Son of God!”
Matthew 28:1-4 (NKJV)
1 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone [a]from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Acts 16:25-34 (NKJV)
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
Prayer Points
Thank the Lord for this month of March. I am thankful for this fasting program.
1 John 1:9 – Confess any known and unknown sins.
Proverbs 4:18 – I decree that my path and ways will be brighter in March than the previous months of this year.
1 Kings 18:46 – Continue to ask God for special grace and strength to fast this year.
Psalm 29:3-4 – Jehovah Elohim, let Your voice thunder over my situations and uproot anything that You have not planted. (mention them and pray earnestly)
Matt 27:51 – Lord, every ‘veil’ that has blocked my glory, my household’s glory and PPT household’s glory in these areas (mention them) be torn down in Jesus’ name.
Matt 27:52 – Father, open up any tomb that the devil has placed in the pathways of my household, PPT households and the church in this season. (pray earnestly)
Matt 27:54 – Father, we ask for a spiritual awakening in the lives of every believer and the church in this season for these days are evil and the church has eaten of the fruit of deceit from the devil.
Matt 27:54 – Lord, I ask for a spiritual awakening in my life which will give me a higher spiritual intelligence like the centurion to follow You whole-heartedly.
Matt 28:2 – Jehovah Adonai, let the power that resurrected Jesus from the death, resurrect the following dead situations (mention them – both spiritual & physical) in my life. (pray earnestly)
Matt 28:2 – Father, release Your angels into my space and remove any blockade in my pathway.
Acts 16:25 – Lord, bring me to a place where my praise and worship will touch heaven and change my environment on earth in Jesus name.
Acts 16:31 - Jesus, I make demands on Your word; because I am saved my household will be saved. Lord let there be spiritual conversions in my household and extended family.
Acts 16:32-34 – Father, let there be spiritual conversions in PPT, our churches and our nation.
Pray for the PPT missionaries and the persecuted church.
Prayer Declaration
Jehovah Elohim, I thank You for Your goodness and mercy. Like David, I say be thou exalted O Lord above all other. Father, let Your voice thunder over my situations and uproot anything that You have not planted. Almighty God, open up any tomb that the devil has placed in my pathway, the pathways of my household, PPT households, and the church in this season.
Lord, give me, my household, and PPT households spiritual resurrections. May every evil veil blocking my entry into my destiny be torn down in Jesus’ name. Father, release Your angels into our space and remove any blockade in my pathway, my household’s pathway, PPT’s pathway, and the church’s pathway.
Lord, I affirm Your word; that because I am saved my household will be saved. I declare and decree none will be lost. Lord, let there be spiritual conversions in PPT and the churches in this season. O Lord, in the name of Jesus, bring me to a place where my praise and worship will touch heaven and change my environment on earth. So shall it be.
