Read: Habakkuk 3:2; Psalm 143:11; 1 Kings 17:19-22; 2 Kings 4:32-35
On this first day of our 21 Days of fasting and prayer we are focusing on topic, LORD REVIVE ME. Many people want to see revival in their church, or community. They eagerly desire to see changes for good in the world. In our desire to see revival come, we must understand that it begins with each one of us personally. Psalm 143:11 says: 11 Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. (NKJV)
We must each personally choose to CHASE GOD this year. We have to make a decision that though many things may chase us personally in this new year and decade, we must make the choice to personally CHASE AFTER GOD. Many times we look at others and see their need to change. We feel like things would be better if our spouse got straightened out in their attitude. That our children need to change. Our work environment would go better if our fellow employees changed.
But the reality is the only person you can control and desire change for is yourself. If there is a work that God needs to do it’s with us first.
Notice how many times in David’s prayer of repentance in Psalm 51 that he uses the words me, my, and I.
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.9 Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Revival is personal. It begins with me. Lord would you revive my heart and spirit with a fresh passion for you. LORD REVIVE ME!
