Day 10 – God is coming in glory and power

Read: Habakkuk 3:3-4; Psalm 63:2; Isaiah 4:2-6

The glory of God isn’t just a feeling, an event or even an Old Testament experience. It’s a spiritual flood of everything that is contained within the character of God.

The Hebrew word translated “glory” is “kabod” which means “weight” or “heavy weight”. It means the heaviest, biggest and grandest things about God. It carries the connotation of solemnity and power. It’s the kind of power that saves, delivers, resurrects, overcomes, and transforms.

The glory of God is visible power. In the Old Testament, the glory appeared as a cloud, smoke or fire known as ‘Shekinah glory’… the Hebrew word given to the presence of God dwelling on the earth. When Moses saw the glory of God, he asked, saying, “Please show me Your glory” (Exodus 33:18)

Jesus said to Martha that if she would believe, she would see the glory of God. (John 11:40). Then He went ahead and raised Lazarus from the dead! O that we would see the glory of God manifested with miracles, signs and wonders occurring!

Let’s look for the glory of God. The prophet Habakkuk got a glimpse of that fiery glory and described it like the sun, blazing in the sky: His glory covered the heavens,
And the earth was full of His praise. His brightness was like the light; He had rays flashing from His hand, and there His power was hidden. (Habakkuk 3:3b,4)

The glory of God looks for a dwelling place. The original house for the glory of God was the tabernacle and then the temple. But in the New Testament under the new covenant, the Holy Spirit builds a temple in every believer … you are the temple of God! “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). You are a carrier of God’s glory!

Let’s pray that the glory of God would be revealed to us and in us as found in Ephesians 1:17-18… 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

It is God’s desire that we walk in the glory of God! So let’s start expecting to see the glory of God! Let’s pray like the Psalmist, So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. (Psalm 63:2)
