Day of Fasting & Prayer - December

‘Tis the Season – The Name

‘Tis the season and it is a wonderful season indeed! This is the month that we celebrate again the miraculous arrival of THE NAME and person that is above every other name. That name is Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God and He came into our world!

‘Tis the season we reflect on just how incredible His coming was. As prophesied by Isaiah, Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, indicating the truth that He was fully human. It’s the fact of His humanity that encourage us in the truth that He fully understands our experiences and struggles (Heb 4:15-16). No one understands you better and more than Jesus and what you are facing right now in your life. So call upon His name. Our miracle working Saviour wants to lift the heavy burdens from your shoulders and carry them for you!

But He was conceived by the Holy Spirit ensuring that the ‘seed’ was sinless so He would be fully God (Matt 1:18). The angel tells Joseph to name Him Jesus, ’for he will save his people from their sins.’ (Matt 18:21) Herein lies the greatest need of our lives. We may not want to admit it, but we need a Saviour who save us from our sins. Only Jesus has the power and authority to deliver us from sin. (Colossians 2:13-15). He paid the price by giving of His life to pay the penalty for our sins. But His death also broke the power of sin in our lives, so that we no longer have to sin! Let’s pray today that He will break every yoke of bondage in our lives and free us to serve Him!

‘Tis the season we celebrate that His light has come to shine in our darkness and the darkness that surrounds us (Isaiah 9:2). Jesus is ‘the light of the world’. He comes to shine His light on all our dark situations. He is a ‘Wonderful Counsellor’ who offers us the godly counsel we need in this life, so read His Word. He is the ‘Mighty God’ who is able to bring about miracles in the midnight hour, so pray in faith believing! He’s our ‘Everlasting Father’ who will lead us into the future God has ordained for our lives. This ‘Prince of Peace’, He wants to fill us and overwhelm us with His peace in our inner most being. A peace that will pass all of your natural understanding!

‘Tis the season, so let the message of Christmas resonate in our hearts and lives for all the world to see, feel and experience this month. ‘Emmanuel’ has come to dwell among us in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Let’s invite Jesus to fill us with His glory, that it might be seen by others and they too would be drawn to Him. Especially in this wonderful season that we commemorate His birth and arrival into our world!
