Day of Fasting & Prayer - May 2022

The Struggle Is Real

Many people are struggling today with mental health issues and various forms of spiritual oppression. The crisis of the past couple of years has created an environment that has fostered these issues.

Isolation from others and the social interactions that are necessary for creating healthy relationships and influences in our lives has been a major contributor to the struggle. Unfortunately, it has also created the stage for many to open the door of their lives to ungodly influences. This has allowed the enemy to harass and oppress them spiritually.

Let’s pray that people will repent and choose to close those entranceways into our lives. That they will hunger to feed ourselves more intensely on God’s Word and pour their hearts out to Him in worship and prayer. They will have a desire birthed in them by the Spirit of God to connect more deeply with Jesus and others. That God would use each of us to show His compassion to other’s through our presence in their lives.

The good news is that Jesus has come to do this very thing. He has come to set the captives free and deliver the oppressed!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me, to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;” (Luke 4:18)

God is moving. We have seen so many new people coming to church. God is drawing them by His Spirit. They are seeking for breakthrough, freedom, and healing. The answer is in the coming and anointing of the Holy Spirit upon their lives and them connecting more deeply with other believers.

Would you join us this month in fasting and prayer, asking the Lord to release a new powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit upon his people and our community? Pray that God will grant people a willing heart to turn and return to the Lord. Pray for a breakthrough anointing that will set the captives free and deliver those who are oppressed. Pray that this will be a year that we experience the Lord’s favour even in the midst of the present challenges of life!

Scriptures

Psalm 13 (NLT)
O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.
Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.

Luke 4:14-18 (NLT)

14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. 15 He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.
16 When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. 17 The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NLT) … The Whole Armor of God
10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Jesus my banner in this season of time and space, I will build a daily formidable spiritual defense by putting on the armour of God. Therefore, I decree that my spiritual defense will be manifested in the physical for myself and my household in Jesus’ mighty name. I will use truth, holiness, peace, faith, my salvation, the word of God and prayer in my struggles and fight against the devil, his angels and their strategies in Jesus’ name. I will be victorious over every struggle both spiritual and physical. Like David, my enemies will not gloat over me because of my struggles. Father, as I cry for Your help, I decree that the tides of my battles and struggles will turn in my favour. The tides of the battles and struggles of PPT households and the church will turn in their favour. I seal this with the blood of Jesus and so shall it be.
